The LEXI (Lunar Environment Heliospheric X-ray Imager) instrument will take global images of the interaction of the solar wind and the Earth’s magnetic field. The instrument will be deployed and operate from the lunar surface in 2023 as part of the first set of landers from the United States traveling to the moon in almost 50 years. The project is a multi-institute collaboration between Boston UniversityNASA Goddard Space Flight CenterJohns Hopkins University, the University of Alaska, FairbanksUniversity of MiamiUniversity of Kansas, and the University of Leicester in the UK.
